Insulin pens

Pen-shaped injector devices for insulin administration.

Most insulin pens had an insulin reservoir, or cartridge neck contains enough insulin for self administration of several doses of insulin.

Can be used multiple times with a new fresh pen needle for each injection.

Generally, disposable pens and reasonable pen cartridges contained 300 units in a 3 mL volume.

Disposable pens can vary in the maximum amount of insulin aloud per dose.

Insulin pens provide more accurate measurement of insulin which can improve the accuracy of administration.

Insulin pen needles are separate entities from the insulin pen itself and requires its own prescription.

Insulin pen needles are single use only.

Insulin pen needles optimally are 4-6 mm in length.
