Adrenal metastases

Found in operable non-small lung cancer in 5-10% of patients at initial presentation.

The most common sites for isolated metastases the adrenal gland are the kidney and lungs.

Autopsy studies in non-small lung cancer reveal 18-42% of patients have metastases the adrenal gland.

Common sites for metastases, beside lung cancer, come from breast cancer, renal cell, melanoma and lymphomas.

Metastatic lesions usually have a greater than 20 Hounsfield unit attenuation on CT scan.
