Screening for depression

Recommended by the US Preventive Services Task force (USPSTF).

It is recommended to screen for depression the general population, including pregnant and postpartum women.

Screening improves the accurate identification of patients with depression, including pregnant and postpartum women

Treatment of patients with depression identified through screening and treated with depressants, psychotherapy, or both decreases clinical morbidity.
