Pemberton sign

Occurs when the thoracic inlet becomes obstructed during positional changes, results in the compression of the jugular veins.

When a patient raises their arm s above their head and experiences marked facial congestion, cyanosis and venous engorgement of the scalp.

Common manifestation of retrosternal goiter and can be seen with lung cancer, lymphoma, thymoma and aortic aneurysms.
