Pediculosis corporis

The body louse, Pediculus humanus corporis, lays its eggs on clothes, especially seams and is associated with poor hygiene and causes intense itching, erythema, urinary, papules and nodules of the skin.

Transmission occurs mainly through contact with contaminated clothing or bedding.

Can lead to skin excoriation, secondary infections and enlarging lymph nodes.

Lice and nits can usually be identified on clothing.

Treatment includes disinfection of involved clothing.

Skin manifestations can be treated with topical antipruritic agents and topical corticosteroids.
