Indications for adjuvant chemotherapy in patients who are node-negative include tumor size of greater than 1 cm, high grade, ER negative status, and HER-2/neu positive overexpression.
In node-negative patients without prediction of chemotherapy benefit is more complex and than in patients with node-positive breast cancer.
Younger age is an independent risk factor for recommending adjuvant chemotherapy in node-negative patients.
