Nasal masses in children

In children may be congenital, infectious or neoplastic.

The most common congenital lesions are dermoid cysts, nasal gliomas and meningoencephaloceles.

Polyps of infectious, atopic or inflammatory cause can occur.

A common neoplasm is juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma, almost exclusively in adolescent or young adult males.

Juvenile nasal angiofibroma usually present with epistaxis.

Peripheral nerve sheath tumors, especially swhwannoma can present associated a nasal mass.

Rhabdomyosarcoma and fibrosarcoma are the most common soft tissue sarcomas to arise within the sinus and nasal area.

Rarely can be the presentation in non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in children.
