Trade name Keppra.

High therapeutic index, with wide separation between therapeutic and toxic dosage.

Utilized for generalized and in partial-onset seizures.

Structurally unrelated to other antiepileptic drugs.

Binds to brain cell membranes in a reversible, and selective way.

Doses maintained without tolerance or signs of withdrawal after quitting treatment.

Exhibits linear kinetics.

Used as an adjunctive treatment of partial-onset seizures in adults with epilepsy.

Not associated with impaired balance.
