Approved for use in addition to routine medicines to treat heart failure in African American patients, to extend life, improve heart failure symptoms, and help heart failure patients stay out of the hospital.
In the African American Heart Failure Trial (A-HeFT), African Americans with heart failure on this drug along with their usual heart failure medicines, compared to a similar group of patients taking their usual heart failure medicines alone: 43% fewer of the study drug users died and 39% fewer required hospitalization for heart failure and patients had improved daily functioning.
