Hodgkin’s disease classification

Jackson and Parker1947: Hodgkin’s granuloma (main group), Hodgkin’s sarcoma (abundance of Reed Sternberg cells) and Hodgkin’s paragranuloma (small number of atypical cells and slow clinical course)

Lukes and Butler (Rye)1966 : Lymphocyte predominant, mixed cellularity, nodular sclerosis, and lymphocyte depleted.

Revised European-American Lymphoma (REAL) classification: classic Hodgkin’s disease-sub divided into mixed cellularity, nodular sclerosis, and lymphocyte depleted and Lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin’s disease.

World Health Organization classification: Nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin’s disease and Classic Hodgkin’s disease with nodular sclerosis, mixed cellularity, lymphocyte rich and lymphocyte depleted subtypes.

WHO classification divides HL into two main types: classic Hodgkin lymphoma and nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma.
