Hispanics

There are 62 million Hispanics/Latinos in the US, representing the largest ethnic minority group.(18:9% of the population, 2021).

Hispanics have a higher prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors, ischemic heart disease, stroke, and peripheral arterial disease.

Hispanic individuals have a generally lower cancer incidence than White individuals.

Black and Hispanic people are disproportionately affected by Alzheimer’s disease.

Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) incidence is significantly higher among Hispanic versus non-Hispanic patients.

 

Hispanic patients constituted 21.5% of atients and had a higher disease incidence, similar to  reports of increased incidence of APL and acute lymphoblastic leukemia in this population.

 

Black and Hispanic patients are less likely to receive opioid analgesics than  white patients. 

 

When black and Hispanic patients do receive opioids they commonly receive a lower dose an White counterparts.
