Hair dyes

Used by one third of women and 10% of men over the age of 40 years.

Some of the aromatic amines contained in hair dyes are mutagenic and carcinogenic.

Do not effect the risk of breast or bladder cancers.

Associated with a borderline effect of the risk of developing hematopoietic cancers.

Recent  studies suggest the use of permanent hair dye increases breast cancer risk to a greater extent among black women then among white women.
The use of hair straightening products also increase breast cancer risk.
Potential health risks associated with their use.
Allergic reactions
Chemical exposure-ammonia, peroxide, and other ingredients that can be harmful if not used properly.
Prolonged or excessive exposure to these chemicals can lead to skin irritation, respiratory issues, or even more serious health problems.
The chemicals in hair dyes can strip the hair of its natural oils, leading to dryness, breakage, and overall damage to the hair shaft.
Some studies have suggested a possible link between long-term use of certain hair dyes and an increased risk of certain types of cancer.
