Ground glass changes


Opacities seen on chest x-ray seen with inflammation, bronchoalveolar cell cancer, lymphoma, pulmonary alveolar proteinosis and hemorrhage.

Refers to increased attenuation of the lung on CT scan with preserved bronchial and vascular margins, while consolidation shows blurring of the bronchiolar and vascular margins.

Opacities noted to correspond to partial filling of air spaces, interstitial thickening, partial atelectasis and increased capillary volume of the lungs (Collins).
