Endopelvic fascia

Envelops and supports the anterior and posterior vaginal canal with fibromuscular tissue and at the apex of the vagina forms the cardinal and uterosacral ligaments which support the cervix and uterus.

Serves as backup support for the muscles of the pelvis and the pelvic diaphragm composed of the levator ani and coccygeus muscles.

Tethers pelvic viscera during bodily functions (urination, defecation, coitus and parturition), that require the relaxation of the pelvic diaphragm.
