Bursae are sacks located between bone surfaces and overlying tendons that are filled with synovial fluid and lubricate movement of tendons over bone surfaces.

Bursitis, inflammation of bursae, commonly related to excessive pressure or repetitive movements.

Associated with pain, tenderness, and swelling.

Pain associated with specific movements and occasionally fluid accumulates.
