Indicated for the management of moderate to severe chronic pain in patients requiring continuous, around-the-clock opioid analgesics for an extended period of time.
A mu opioid partial agonist.
In doses greater than 20 mcg per hour increases the risk of QTc interval prolongation.
Butrans transdermal patch is intended to be worn for 7 days.
Contraindicated in patients with respiratory depression, severe asthma or have paralytic ileus.
Initiation of dosing is individualized.
