Atrophie blanche


Presents as painful purpuric papules that evolve into ulcerations and angular scars on the lower extremities.

Associated with multiple causes.

Its characteristic histopathologic feature is occlusion of vessels in the middle and deep dermis.

Agents that inhibit platelet thrombus formation or stimulate fibrinolytic activity improve the disease in most patients.
