Sarcasm refers to the use of caustic words, often in a humorous way, to mock someone or something.

Sarcasm may employ ambivalence.

Sarcasm it is not necessarily ironic.

Sarcasm is most recognizable in spoken words, and is distinguished by the inflection with which it is spoke.

It is spoken with an undercurrent of irony, by the extreme disproportion of the comment to the situation, and is largely context-dependent.

Situations may be ironic, but only people can be sarcastic.
