Neutrophilic dermatoses are a group of skin conditions characterized by an abnormal accumulation of neutrophils in the skin.
Examples of neutrophilic dermatoses include:
1. Sweet’s syndrome or acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis.
Sweet’s syndrome is characterized by fever, painful skin lesions, and an elevated number of neutrophils in the blood and tissues.
2. Pyoderma gangrenosum: an ulcerative skin condition that presents as rapidly progressing, painful ulcers with undermined borders and necrotic tissue.
3. Behçet’s disease: Can involve neutrophilic skin lesions such as papulopustular lesions and erythema nodosum.
4. Neutrophilic eccrine hidradenitis: a rare inflammatory disorder of the sweat glands, typically seen in patients with autoimmune or hematologic disorders.
