Nasal spray indicted for patients with mild to moderate classic type 1 von Willebrand disease with factor VIII levels greater than 5%.
Indicated for patients with hemophilia A with factor VIII coagulant activity levels greater than 5%, and not indicated if levels are less.
Not indicted in hemophilia B or in patients with factor VIII antibodies.
Not indicated for the treatment of severe classic von Willebrand disease type 1 with evidence of an abnormal molecular form of factor VIII antigen.
Should not be used in type 2B von Willebrand disease since this agent may induce platelet aggregation.
Adverse reactions of Desmopressin in injectable or nasal form include: headache, somnolence, dizziness, chest pain, nausea, palpatations, tachycardia, water excess, hyponatremia, seizures, coma allergic reactions and anaphylaxis.
