Clonality

Refers to cells being derived from a single precursor that has undergone a somatic mutation.

Describes a description of lineage as well as homogeneity of the tested tissue.

Detection requires a marking that is retained generation after generation, enabling lineage to be traced by following the marker back to a single progenitor.

Can be marked by a genotype or phenotype.

In genotype clonality an ab2242ant genetic sequence is usually related to the disease, as its cause, or as a marker of the original precursor that has undergone disease causing somatic mutation.

Phenotypic clonality identifies cells using changes in the expression pattern of genes.

Phenotypic clonality can be evaluated by flow cytometry to recognize abnormally expressed antigens or loss of heterozygous allele expression.
