Occurs most frequently in premature infants and in neurosurgical patients.

1,3 beta-D-glucan is a component of the cell wall of Canada and other fungi: serum 1,3 – beta – D – gluccan levels has a sensitivity for the diagnosis of invasive Canada infection of approximately 80%.
Utilization of amphotericin B and flucytosine associated initial treatment.
Flucytosine can be used for follow up and suppressive therapy.
Removal of neurosurgical prosthetic devices is required and treatment should continue for at least 4 weeks after resolution of the infection.
