PREVENT calculator

The PREVENT calculator-Predicting Risk of Cardiovascular Disease Events.

Developed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
These equations are designed to estimate the 10- and 30-year risk of total cardiovascular disease (CVD), which includes both atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and heart failure.
The PREVENT equations incorporate traditional risk factors: smoking, systolic blood pressure, cholesterol levels, antihypertensive or statin use, and diabetes, as well as kidney function measured by estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR).
The PREVENT equations are sex-specific and race-free.
The PREVENT equations adjust for the competing risk of non-CVD death.
There are additional models that include optional predictors like urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio, hemoglobin A1c, and social determinants of health, such as the social deprivation index, to enhance predictive utility.
PREVENT equations involved a large, sample of US adults aged 30 to 79 years without known CVD, and they have been shown to provide accurate and precise risk predictions for incident CVD and its subtypes.
